Grants and funding for industrial efficiency projects in Canada
Federal, provincial, utility-run and municipal programs that help Canadian manufacturers pay for metering, monitoring and efficiency work.
Money is the first objection and usually the real one. So here is the list we keep for ourselves: 24 programs, every one linked to the official government or utility page it was read from, with the date it was read. No aggregators, no referral links, no login.
Program details change. Always confirm with the provider before budgeting. Amounts and deadlines below are quoted from the source exactly as published — including the ones that publish no figure at all.

Strategic Energy Management for Industry (SEMI)

A $70M program for Alberta industrial/manufacturing facilities covering energy assessments and audits, Energy Management Information Systems (monitoring), strategic energy management training and capital retrofits.
Status note: Runs until March 31, 2027 or until funds are allocated — at retrieval, WAITLISTS are open for all activities and the SEM training stream is closed to new applications, so clients should join waitlists promptly.

Ontario Made Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit

A refundable corporate income tax credit on capital investments in Ontario manufacturing — machinery and equipment (Class 53) and manufacturing buildings (Class 1).
Status note: Active (claimed through the tax return, no application window); credit is legislated to be repealed effective January 1, 2030.

Not a grant but an ongoing ~30% discounted water/wastewater rate on industrial process water above 5,000 m3/year, in exchange for maintaining an approved water conservation plan.
Status note: Active; the required conservation plan and annual reporting are a natural fit for metering/monitoring services.

- Do I have to be a Quantify client to use this list?
- No. This is a public resource. Every entry links straight to the official program page and you can apply without us.
- Will a grant cover a monitoring or metering project?
- Often, yes. Several of these programs fund energy assessments, sub-metering and energy management information systems directly, and several more will fund the measurement work as part of a larger retrofit. The entries tagged for monitoring are the ones to read first.
- How current is this list?
- Every entry carries the date it was last retrieved from the official source. Entries not re-checked within 90 days show a Verify badge and drop out of the default view. Program details change — always confirm with the provider before budgeting.
- Why do some entries say “varies” instead of an amount?
- Because that is what the official page says. Amounts and deadlines here are quoted, never interpreted. Where a program publishes no figure, this library says so rather than estimating one.
- Can Quantify help with an application?
- We can help with the measurement side of it — the baseline data, the metering plan and the savings case that most applications ask for. We are not grant writers and we take nothing from the programs listed here.
